“Does Age Matter to you? 10 Short Questions”

Please read this information carefully before deciding to take part in this research. If you are happy to participate please tick the box at the end of this page and click continue.

Who is running the research?

 Dr Aiden P. Gregg (Senior Lecturer, Psychology, University of Southampton) and Sengul Holt (Third-Year Undergraduate Project Student, Psychology, University of Southampton)

What does taking part in the study involve?

You will be asked about 10 short questions, including about your actual age, the age you feel you are, and the age you desire to be.

Why have I been chosen?

Any adult over the age of 18 who is from an English-speaking country is eligible to take part.

What will happen to me if I take part?

If you agree to take part, then you will be asked to complete a short survey after ticking the consent box below.  This survey will take approximately 5 minutes to complete. You will then be provided with a fuller explanation of the purposes of the research.

Are there any benefits in my taking part?

You may find completing the survey makes you think about thing in a new way. We will ask you for your personal thoughts about the study at the end.

Are there any risks involved?

There are no significant risks involved in this study. However, if there are any questions that you feel uncomfortable answering, then please leave these blank. The study has been approved by the Ethics Committee, Psychology, University of the Southampton.

Will the information I provide be secure?

Participation is anonymous. Hence, the results of this study will not include your name or any other identifying characteristics. You can feel to respond completely honestly.

What happens if I change my mind?

Your participation in this study is voluntary. You may quit any time you like.

What happens if something goes wrong?

Also, we have tried to ensure that the questions in this study do not cause any distress. However, some people experience some anxieties or concerns when completing surveys that ask personal questions.
