What is the research about?

This is a study looking at the relationship between different personality traits and memory recall.

 

What will happen to me if I take part?

The study involves completing a variety of personality measures, reading a short story about a relationship, completing a brief filler task (a brief consumer task) and then recalling some information about the story you read. The study should take 20-30 minutes to complete.

 

Are there any benefits in my taking part?

You will contribute to psychological science and our understanding of personality traits. As a thank you for completing the survey you will be entered into a prize draw to win a £50 Amazon voucher (or equivalent).

 

Are there any risks involved?

There are no significant risks involved in this study beyond those you would encounter in everyday life. You may find that some of the questions are quite personal, but you may leave any questions blank that you would prefer not to answer. We do recommend that you complete the survey in private so that you feel able to be open and honest. In the unlikely event of distress, we recommend that you contact the Samaritans at: www.samaritans.org/how-we-can-help-you.

 

Will my participation be anonymous?

Even though we will need to ask for your email-address to contact you about the prize draw, all data are treated as confidential. Your email address will only be used to contact you for this specific purpose. It will be stored in a separate database to your questionnaire responses so that we cannot identify individual responses. It will not be shared with any third parties.

 

What happens if I change my mind?

You are free to change your mind and leave the study at any time, without your legal rights being affected. Just close the browser.
