**HEALTHCARE CHAT ROBOTS** YES OR NO? YOUR VOICE COUNTS

Study Title: Are health chatbots a good idea?

Researcher: Elizabeth Simpson, Wisman Siew & Dr Tom Nadarzynski

ERGO number: 31719

What is the research about?

Students from the University of Southampton are investigating whether people would be willing to seek medical information using a health chatbot (a conversational computer programme). We will ask a few demographic questions (e.g., age, gender), and about your attitudes towards health chatbots. Your responses will enable us to understand if people are happy to use chatbots for information about their health.

We are looking for any adults (aged 18+ years old) living in the United Kingdom. Your participation is voluntary and you can stop the survey at any point without giving a reason.

As a ‘thank you’ for completing the survey you will have a chance to enter a prize draw worth £50. If you wish to enter the prize draw, we will ask you to type your email address at the end of the survey so that we can notify the winner. This is optional and you can complete the survey without providing any identifying information about yourself.

All personal information provided will not be released or viewed by anyone other than the researchers. Identifiable information will not be disclosed in research reports or analyses. All information will be handled in compliance with the Data Protection Act (1998) and the data policy of the University of Southampton.

The results of the research will be used as part of our student dissertation and may be published in a scientific journal or presented at a scientific conference.
