Please read this information carefully before deciding to take part in this research.  It is up to you to decide whether or not to take part. If you are happy to participate you will be asked to sign a consent form.

What is the research about?

This is a PhD student project which aims to using the game as online platform to achieve educate, health and social element to support dementia carers. The study is supported by university of Southampton. At the end of the study, you will receive the study findings and see how your data was used.

Why have I been asked to participate?

This stage will involve testing with people have any relative with dementia such as dementia family number, dementia carers. 

What will happen to me if I take part?

Participants will be given a participant information sheet and a consent form. You will be asked to sign participant information sheet and a consent form if you are interested in participating this research. The survey comprises one game and respective questionnaires. Participant will be asked to play game for 10 minutes and then complete the respective questionnaire, which also takes about 10 minutes to complete.

Are there any benefits in my taking part?

By taking this part, you will have opportunity to help in the development of some technology which will help people who are looking after dementia patients. This technology aims to transfer pertinent knowledge to dementia carers.

Are there any risks involved?

There are no particular risks associated with your participation in the interviews.

Will my participation be confidential?

All information and data from this study will be confidentially kept in a password-protected computer at the University of Southampton. Access will be restricted by user identifiers and passwords. All data will be destroyed at 1 year later after the completion of the study. If you would like to access your data after your participation, change it, or withdraw it, please contact the investigator (e-mail YL1D15@soton.ac.uk) who will arrange this.

What should I do if I want to take part?

You will be asked to sign participant information sheet and a consent form if you are interested in participating this research.

What happens if I change my mind?

You may withdraw at any time and for any reason.  You may access, change, or withdraw your data at any time and for any reason prior to its destruction.  You may keep any benefits you receive. 

What will happen to the results of the research?

This stage will show the metrics’ reliability and the industry professionals’ point of views, to help to expand the framework for future intervention research. The metric survey is to get game developers, designers and researchers to use the metrics with some games and analyse the results to see if they can use the metrics reliably.
